This series of 4 videos, for internal use at IKEA Bristol as part of their ‘Leader in Life at Home’ project, was filmed on a small budget as a two man team.

“Steve and Sam visited our store in Bristol multiple times, as well as the homes of four of our colleagues to create this set of videos. They were efficient and professional, and they went the extra mile to create films which exceeded our expectations.”

Richard Chalcraft

Store Manager

As part of a project to promote their ‘Mobile Information and Support Service’, I volunteered my time to produce two videos for Macmillan Cancer Support. One is used internally as an introduction to volunteers, and this one as a promotional tool for YouTube and social media.

“For some time now our service has talked about how we can raise the profile of the Mobile Information and Support Service at the same time as informing others about how the service operates and the fantastic support provided by the team in a wide range of settings. These videos fit the brief of providing a description for our customers about the service, and what to expect from the team and will be shared online on our website, but also shared as a link to our customers when booking the service, as what better way to understand what a “big green bus” looks like than to show them, it will be a great help to the logistics teams!”

Service Manager

I have worked with 1st Take to film graduation ceremonies every year since 2008. As a result, I have filmed over 200 ceremonies for Bath Spa University, Cardiff University and UWIC. I have worked as a camera operator as well as a vision mixer (cutting the pictures live for in-house screens and web streaming), and have been a pivotal team member in the planning, testing and technical setup stages. I have also worked as a video editor for the souvenir DVDs.

I worked with a talented artist to create a timelapse whiteboard animation video for Vavista, a healthy lifestyle company.

For the ‘Look Inside’ video, I recruited and recorded a voiceover artist and captured footage of Vavista’s dashboard software to highlight the different features.

“Steve worked with us to create a whiteboard animation and a screen-capture explainer video. He was friendly and communicative throughout the process, and was very responsive to our feedback and requests. We are delighted with the quality of the final products that Steve produced for us.”

I have filmed on location for more than 10 feature length documentary films for 1st Take. This work has taken me to heritage railway steam galas, remote rural locations and busy urban areas. Beyond just operating the camera, I am also often responsible for setting up lighting and audio, and sometimes for conducting the interviews at the same time too!

SupaStrikers asked for my help to create a series of videos to promote their football sessions, to recruit new kids and new coaches to the franchise.

On boxing day 2019, I filmed the Marshfield Mummers perform their yearly play for a documentary being made by TruthStream Media

“Steve was very willing to work out the details and make this project happen. He was easy and pleasant to work with, and brought great camera skills to our project. He proved willing to work with my schedule, and aptly filmed a live event with dynamic subjects in motion. I would recommend Steve to anyone as a freelance videographer, and would certainly hire him again if circumstances lined up. Thanks!”
